Born on 5 August, 1935 Indu Jain emerged as a strong presence on the Hindi literary scene in the 1970s. Her first collection of poems Chaunsath Kavitayein( Sixty four Poems) was published in 1964. She wrote eight more collections, Ankh Se Bhi Choti Chidiya, Bunti Aawazein, Kona Tera Kaun Sa, Kitni Avadhi being some of them. She taught Hindi at Delhi University from 1964 to 2000. Apart from that she did several interviews for Doordarshan and All India Radio and wrote lyrics for films like Chashme Baddoor, Sparsh and Katha.
