Minakshi Thakur's first book, An Indian Evening, a collection of poems in English, was published by Writers' Workshop in 2002. She has since published two collections of Hindi poems: Jab Utthi Yavanika (2003) and Neend Ka Akhiri Pul (2010), which was shortlisted for the Sahitya Akademi Young Writers' Prize, 2011. In 2012, she was awarded the Sangam House Fellowship, an international writers' residency in Bengaluru. Minakshi has trained in Khayal and Dhrupad and enjoys singing. This is her first novel.
