HarperCollins India is delighted to announce the acquisition of bestselling author Anuja Chauhan’s brand new novel, Club You to Death.
When a deliciously hunky personal trainer is found asphyxiated to death under an overloaded barbell at the posh Delhi Turf Club, on the eve of the club elections, it is first thought to be a grisly freak accident. But when it comes to light that his protein shake had been laced with a lethal dose of popular party drug Pinko Hathni, it can no longer be denied that one of the members of the DTC – all powerful, ‘pickled in privilege’ Dilli-wallahs – is a cold-blooded killer.
As the capital bristles with speculation and conspiracy theories, Crime Branch veteran ACP Bhavani Singh is appointed to investigate the case. The homely, smiling old policeman appears unimpressive at first glance. But his old-fashioned tools of diligent donkey work and sympathetic non-judgmental listening turn out to be surprisingly effective. Especially after he identifies able deputies in young ex-lovers Akash ‘Kashi’ Dogra – hottie crusader for human rights who despises the snooty DTC, and Bambi Todi, wealthy girl-about-town who loves the club like a second home. Together, the trio sets out to solve a crime that seems simple enough on the surface, but turns out to have roots as deep and spreading as those of New Delhi’s famous neem trees…
To her patented mix of laugh-out-loud humour and toe-tingling romance, Chauhan now adds a dollop of spine-chilling suspense. Club You to Death will be out in the summer of 2021.
ANUJA CHAUHAN said, ‘The lockdown made me want to murder people. Hopefully, I’ve done it well.’
SWATI DAFTUAR, Senior Commissioning Editor at HarperCollins India, said, ‘This book is SUCH a treat! Clever, funny, absolutely thrilling. Chances are, it’s going to become your new favourite book by Anuja Chauhan’
DIYA KAR, Publisher [Commercial Division] at HarperCollins India, said, ‘A new Anuja Chauhan is a publishing event. This one is absolutely delicious. I binge-read, and felt bereft when it ended.’
Here’s a sneak peek into the book –
‘Roshni looked like she’d been snorting some of her son’s maal, her eyes glittered so strangely! Mukki was wearing those yellow suspenders again- over a black shirt – he looked like a taxi you don’t want to take. Urvashi was in white chikan mulmul – like Benazir Bhutto about to be assassinated. And Bambi Todi, so sweet, and Balbir Dogra’s son, so cute, and somebody had invited that limping guy who keeps talking about boobs, and that Roman Catholic priest, and my God, there was just so much tension in the room!’
‘And then ACP Brownie stepped forward, with his face ekdum grim and all my chakras started whirring and all I could think was one of us is a murderer. And I decided then and there only ki no-carbs after 6 pm rule be damned and pulled out my emergency muesli bar and started munching.’
