Bestselling author, Nikita Singh’s heart-warming new novel, The Reason Is You, will release on this Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, it is time to curl up with stories that pull at your heartstrings. HarperCollins India brings you bestselling author, Nikita Singh’s new novel, The Reason Is You, a book about emotional health, heartache and second chances. A compelling love story that is all about raw emotions and real relationships, The Reason Is You will at once move and inspire you. This is not the love of fairytales, but a deeply honest story about real people living in the real world and exploring the boundaries of contemporary relationships as they learn to live and love through mental and emotional turmoil. The Reason Is You releases on 14 February 2019.

Setting the context further, with a peek into the plot, Nikita Singh said, “This is a novel told from the perspective of its male protagonist. It is about being in love with someone who is struggling with depression, and how that affects the person taking on the role of a caretaker in a relationship. The story further explores how mental health issues still have this societal stigma attached, and how their symptoms tend to get overlooked or even dismissed.”

In anticipation of the book’s publication, Swati Daftuar, Commissioning Editor at HarperCollins India, said, “This, for me, is Nikita’s finest book, so far. The way she has handled what is an immensely complicated subject; the way she writes about love and everything that comes with it – the good, the bad and the ugly – is wonderful. With The Reason Is You, she has pushed the envelope, challenged herself, and emerged so very successful.”

About The Reason Is You – Siddhant meets Akriti during their medical residency in Delhi. Their connection is instant, blossoming from the many similarities between them. So, when Akriti faces a devastating loss, she leans on Siddhant for support. In the heat of an emotional moment, the two decide that this must be love. But as Akriti’s depression begins to take a stronger hold over her, she spirals out of control, sinking deeper into an abyss of fear, insecurity and rage. And while Siddhant struggles to help her, it seems like everything he does is only making things worse.
Meanwhile, Siddhant’s life gets further complicated when Maahi, his ex-girlfriend, whom he never stopped loving, re-enters his life.
