HarperCollins to Publish Actor Kubbra Sait’s First Book

HarperCollins India is thrilled to acquire actress Kubbra Sait’s untitled non-fiction, an inspiring memoir about her childhood and career.

From battling crippling social anxiety as a child to being bullied and teased about her appearance as an adult, Kubbra burst onto the screen with a tough-as-nails performance in Sacred Games and she hasn’t looked back since.

In her memoir, the vibrant actress shares stories from her own life to show that the road to success is never easy. The book tackles the biggest challenges she’s had to face and how she has overcome them, offering inspirational advice to others.

Candid, self-deprecating and funny, and unsparingly honest, the book, to be published in 2021, offers a no-holds-barred look at the real person behind the public persona.

Kubbra Sait says, ‘Stepping out of the realm of desires are dreams, Team Jacaranda nudged me in a direction through the lockdown. When Jay told me that HarperCollins was interested, I jumped with joy. Can you imagine my excitement with the confirmation of the news, I now harp, “I am a HarperCollins author!” The best thing to happen to me during the lockdown is this.’

Jayapriya Vasudevan, partner, Jacaranda Literary Agency, says, ‘It’s been so much fun to work with this “accidental writer”. She writes faster than I can think! So much to look forward to with this book and this writer. It’s wonderful, too, to continue working with the lovely team at HarperCollins.’

Sonal Nerurkar, senior commissioning editor, HarperCollins India, says, ‘In October last year, I watched a series of inspiring videos by Kubbra and knew immediately that she was meant to be a writer. I’m thrilled that her debut non-fiction has come to us! From an insecure childhood to reclaiming her confidence and going on to achieve her professional dreams, Kubbra has an amazing transformational story. Her writing, a combination of sassiness and vulnerability, will strike a chord with anyone navigating life’s challenges.’
