LAUNCHES

THE HARPER PODCAST

In a first-of-its-kind initiative by an Indian publisher, HarperCollins India today announced that it will be hosting The Harper Podcast, a monthly podcast that will feature some of our most renowned authors, as well as our stellar debut voices, talking about their respective books, creative processes and writing journeys.

This initiative will help a budding generation of readers, thinkers and future leaders engage with new ideas and expand their worldview. This is in line with our faith in the power of ideas to revolutionize thoughts, attitudes and lives. Hosted by Amrita Tripathi, an author and former journalist, the podcast aims to remind us of the power of words and dialogue in our times.

Harper Podcast: Stories about how we create stories

The series will be launched with bestselling, award-winning author Amitav Ghosh, where he talks about his book Smoke and Ashes and how his research into the opium trade for the Ibis Trilogy led to this incredible work of non-fiction. We will discuss his writing career at length – what’s changed about how he writes and what hasn’t. Ghosh will also talk about the climate-change crisis, the rise of AI and what he’s been reading and would highly recommend.

‘I’m excited to be hosting the Harper Podcast series just for the sheer joy of being able to connect with some incredible writers and talk about their books and ideas. In a world where we keep hearing about shortened attention spans, it’s always wonderful to do interviews that can bring us new insight, and ideally will surprise and delight readers,’ says Amrita Tripathi.

Speaking about the podcast, Akriti Tyagi, Director – Marketing, HarperCollins India, said, ‘Publishing is all about spreading the joy of reading. In the 30-plus years that we have been in India, we have published many award-winning authors and books, championed new voices, and have continuously endeavoured to provide a platform to a variety of voices across the spectrum. It is with this goal in mind that we aim to bring these fabulous books closer to the readers, and the podcast is an initiative which will allow us to do just that – make our authors more accessible, their voices heard by their most ardent fans.’

The first episode, featuring the eclectic Amitav Ghosh is now streaming wherever you get your podcasts! Tune in now and subscribe.
