HarperCollins is delighted to announce the publication of Amish’s Immortal India: Young Country, Timeless Civilization, a must read for all interested in India – the country, the culture, the polity, and the society. Written by bestselling author, Amish Tripathi, this is a timely and topical book sure to inform and further the understanding of India from multiple perspectives that it covers, be it history, mythology, governance or the contemporary social fabric.
Author Amish says, ‘I am very proud of my Indian identity. And, if one sees the longer arc of history, this is perhaps the best time to be an Indian, in many centuries. As India rises to take its historical place in the comity of nations, understanding what makes India tick becomes even more moot. This is my small contribution to this conversation.’
ABOUT Immortal India
India: a land that witnessed the dawn of civilization, the only pre-Bronze Age culture that is still alive. It has been celebrated and attacked, admired and vilified. But across millennia, through many great upheavals in history, it has stood strong. Now, after a few centuries of decline, it is driving a new dawn once again. Ajanaabhavarsh. Bharat. Hindustan. India. The names may be varied, but the soul of this great land remains immortal.
In this expanded edition of his much-acclaimed book Immortal India: Young Country, Timeless Civilization, Amish helps you appreciate India like never before through a fresh series of sharp articles, nuanced speeches and intelligent debates. With his deep understanding of a range of subjects, from religion, mythology and tradition to history, contemporary societal norms, governance and ethics, Amish provides insight into the vast landscape of an ancient culture with a fascinatingly modern outlook.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Amish is a 1974-born, IIM (Kolkata)-educated banker-turned-author. The success of his debut book, The Immortals of Meluha (Book 1 of the Shiva Trilogy), encouraged him to give up his career in financial services to focus on writing. Besides being an author, he is also an Indian-government diplomat, a host for TV documentaries, and a film producer.
Amish is passionate about history, mythology and philosophy, finding beauty and meaning in all world religions. His books have sold more than 7 million copies and have been translated into over 20 languages. His Shiva Trilogy is the fastest selling and his Ram Chandra Series the second fastest selling book series in Indian publishing history.
