With the fast-approaching barrage of holidays and festivities, it’s only smart to keep oneself prepared for unexpected visitors. And who better to ask than the Culinary King and Queen? Check out these recipes, shared by baker and blogger Shivesh Bhatia and author Sandeepa Mukherjee Datta. Whether your guest has a sweet tooth or a salt craving, we’ve got all your bases covered. Which one will you try first?
What says ‘festive’ more than a pistachio cake? These pistachio and jaggery mini cakes are Shivesh Bhatia’s favourite go-to dessert during Diwali. It’s amazing how easy it is to make such a fancy dessert with ingredients lying right there in your kitchen. It’s simple, yet delicious and rich – thanks to good ol’ jaggery!
Once you’re done, it should look a little something like this.
In the mood for something more savoury? The Bong Mom to your rescue! Try recreating Sandeepa Mukherjee Datta‘s Devilled Eggs (the Bengali way).
Dim’r devil is not devilled eggs, though it owes its name to a similar root. They are more like the British Scotch eggs and the Mughlai nargisi kofta. It is a very popular snack for most Bengalis, where egg halves are covered in a cocoon of ground chicken, breaded and then fried.
Bite in and enjoy the magic of two cuisines meeting!
